Beech Hill is an intentional community. It is the home of some 14 individuals who live, work and have fun together. We live together because by sharing and co-operating, we manage to live more lightly on the land and our lives are enriched in many ways.

Everything we do is developed with an awareness of the impact of our work and lives on the environment. We recycle as much waste as we can and strive to reduce our consumption of energy. We grow our own vegetables and fruit organically. We have compost toilets which we encourage visitors to use, and we process our sewage with a reed bed sewage treatment system.

We have recently completed an exciting renewable energy project, with the help of grants from EDF and The Low Carbon Buildings Fund. We now have a wind turbine to generate electricity, solar panels to heat water and a high efficiency, low emissions log boiler for central heating.
