Beech Hill is a beautiful country house in the heart of Devon. It is set in 7 acres of grounds and is surrounded by open fields. Its secluded location makes it quiet and peaceful.
The lawn has beautiful flower borders and there is an ancient walled garden and a cobbled courtyard.
The house is situated on the Two Moors Way - a long-distance footpath between Dartmoor and Exmoor, and there are many more delightful short walks on the doorstep.
Beech Hill is the home of some 14 individuals who live, work and have fun together. We live together because by sharing and co-operating, our lives are enriched in many ways.
Everything we do is developed with an awareness of the impact of our work and lives on the environment. We recycle as much waste as we can and strive to reduce our consumption of energy. We have compost toilets which we encourage visitors to use, and we have a reed bed sewage treatment system. Our hot water and heating are provided by our renewable energy installations.
Our workroom is light and airy, measuring 26' x 22'. It has a wooden floor with a large removable carpet and French windows giving access to a spacious lawn.
The lawn and paddock can be used as workspace, and we have a 24' x 12' tent available for use.
We know how important good food is. We prepare vegetarian wholefoods to a high standard, using delicious fresh fruit and vegetables organically grown in our own gardens whenever possible. Special diets are not a problem. Alternatively, you can self-cater. Either way, you are welcome to make yourself drinks and snacks at any time.
We can accommodate 15 people in simple but comfortable dormitory-style rooms, and a couple of smaller rooms. The paddock is available for camping.
Creche facilities can be arranged, and visitors may enjoy our outdoor swimming pool during the summer months.
We enjoy hosting groups and look forward to welcoming you to Beech Hill.
